What a wonder it is to find places that blend in so perfectly with what Sucuchos is all about.
Having a stroll though the Kiez is sometimes the best way to find undiscovered, and unexpected, places. I think I've walked past this joint a number of times but still evaded it for some reason. This time my attention was sharper and so I firmly decided to face the door, walk in and be marveled (hoping for it, at least).
The decor is modest yet modern and sleek; a couple of industrial design touches decorate the space which seems to be unaffected by the hour: it is always full with lively conversations and all sorts of folk. This by itself is a suggestion that, whatever they have cookin', it must be good.
Good sushi, as in REALLY good sushi, is a blessing. Blessed be the day we tasted it.
The pieces we had had a unique combination of different fish: crab, tuna and salmon all in the same roll. The FRESHNESS. My sweet, it reminded me of what a swim in the sea on a hot day feels like. Just rejuvenating. The delicate sauces finished making the rolls a spicy melody of playful flavors.
Remember Anton Ego's face in Ratatouille when he tastes the dish by the same name? Well I'm still not that old or that bald, but my eyes were for sure as astonished when I tried the duck curry. Not only the presentation was worthy of a portrait itself, with so many colors put in a wonderful plate, but the flavors of the coconut milk made such an amazing team with the vegetables and that duck breast. A tad little spicy (the more, the better for me), juicy and just the right temperature to dive into it without hesitation. It was just... perfect.
If you put into the experience the friendly attention you receive as well with the amazingly accessible prices, then I believe you'll find no more excuse to not stop by.
The thing about eating is that at some point you must stop, but his place made it excessively difficult. There's a song which goes "just close your eyes, forget the people, forget the world". I recommend you do this at Best Friends and jump into a fantasy with what your tongue and paladar are experiencing. This way you can take home a lasting memory, at least until you come back for more.
